Connecticut Passive House Green Building Tour, February 5, East Haven, CT
Event Description

WinnDevelopment is in the process of redeveloping the long vacant East Haven High School building into 70 new mixed income, elderly apartments. Originally constructed in 1936, The Tyler, financed in large part through a LIHTC award from Connecticut Housing Finance Agency (CHFA), is targeting certification through the Passive House Institute’s EnerPHit standard. With the support of Steven Winter Associates, The Tyler has integrated several high performance systems and construction details in order to pursue EnerPHit certification – including a whole building air infiltration target, thermal comfort criteria, and peak heating and cooling demand thresholds – while complying with stringent and challenging historic preservation requirements. The Tyler is expected to be completed in June 2020.
