At the recent BuildingEnergy19 show, Northeast Sustainable Energy Association leaders honored Fred Davis with the 2019 Distinguished Service Award. Fred has been an energy and lighting leader since before these fields became cool again.  Back in high school, Fred started the Ecology Club.  After college, he worked as a retrofitter and enertgy auditor - in the late 1970's.  Fred became an Operations Manager, helped create companies, served on boards, mentored others, and created and chaired conferences, all before (and much of this activity continued after) starting the Fred Davis Corporation.

As NESEA reports, "The Fred Davis Corporation is a leading wholesale supplier of efficient lighting products, and is active in multi-family, weatherization, and municipal markets nationwide. Over the years, FDC helped introduce such major innovations as compact fluorescents, electronic ballasts, LED exit signs; in recent years supplying 50,000 LED streetlight fixtures for 40 municipalities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, reducing energy consumption by 63-90%."

Fred is clearly a leader and has contributed to NESEA significantly since 1981.  He leads by example and has the kind of graciousness and infectious energy needed to keep welcoming new people and companies into the green building and energy efficieny fields.
