Position Overview:

Lyft is seeking a Sustainability Manager to implement Lyft’s sustainability initiatives, integrating sustainable practices throughout the company. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, you will help to set the strategy and ensure that the company's sustainability efforts enhance business performance and decision-making while supporting Lyft’s long-term goals. You bring a systems-thinking mindset and interdisciplinary experience while embodying our fun, friendly culture. Working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders, you will be critical to creating a comprehensive sustainability program that will help Lyft become the defining brand of our generation.

Responsibilities:

-Contribute to Lyft’s long-term sustainability vision, strategy, and operating principles; develop programs and formulate action plans with defined objectives, targets and responsibilities to support the strategy and vision
-Collaborate cross-functionally to implement sustainability programs across the company that reduce Lyft’s resource consumption and waste generation while enhancing business performance
-Build relationships with internal and external partners; identify, vet, and negotiate deals with vendors and partners to provide services and partnerships in furtherance of Lyft’s sustainability goals
-Develop metrics, gather data, build dashboards, monitor progress, and report internally and externally on sustainability objectives and performance
-Serve as an internal leader and a go-to expert on sustainability; monitor emerging trends, programs, and issues and help foster a culture of sustainability through ongoing organizational engagement
-Support the creation and implementation of communication strategies to publicize Lyft’s sustainability efforts and promote broad awareness of sustainability initiatives both internally and to our driver and passenger community

Experience and Skills:

-5+ years of experience in program management, operations, strategy, or management consulting with a focus on sustainability, transportation, or energy
-Advanced degree in sustainable management, energy and resources, business, law, engineering, or a related field
-Fluency in at least two of the following fields: transportation and clean vehicles, energy and grid operations, green buildings and healthy workplaces, or carbon footprinting and sustainability reporting – and a proven track record of quickly getting up to speed in new sustainability sub-fields
-Strong program management, negotiation, financial modeling, and communication skills
-Experience leading large-scale, complex projects and proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead without authority
-Entrepreneurial, curious, and scrappy self-starter with exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and sometimes unstructured environment
-Extra credit: spreadsheet modeling, data visualization, scripting (VBA, SQL), coding, sustainability communications or marketing experience, energy or transportation policy experience
