Special Event to Celebrate a New Netzero home for the Ewings April 1, 2016, 1-3 pm 79 Kendig Street Worcester, MA Introductions by Tim Firment of Habitat for Humanity, MetroWest/Greater Worcester Guest Speakers: Marc Ewings, Marine Corps Veteran Marcy Reed, National Grid MA President Kathleen Polanowicz, District Director to the Honorable James P. McGovern Dan Greenwood, SolarFlair, VP Clean Energy Solutions Tony Economou, City of Worcester Councilor Local Marine Corps Veteran Marc Ewings and his family will soon be enjoying a new home featuring the latest energy-saving solutions as part of Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester and National Grid’s first Veterans Build, LEED certifiable, net zero home. The Kendig Street home is a former community meeting hall, donated by the College Hill Civic Association. The home was designed and built for Marc and his wife Sophie, and is adaptable to meet the needs of their three sons. Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester and National Grid partnered to build their first Veteran Build, Energy Star, LEED for Homes, Net-Zero home using Deep Energy Retrofit construction guidelines located within the Worcester Smart Energy Solutions Program Pilot area. As a result of all the energy-saving features of the home, the house is projected to use 53 percent less energy than comparable new homes.
