U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2015! October 8-11 and 15-18 27 Schools, 16 Teams! The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency. Open to the public free of charge, the Solar Decathlon gives visitors the opportunity to tour solar-powered houses, gather ideas for their homes, and learn how energy-saving features can help them save money today.
