Smart Plug Instant Hot Water Control by Taco: Improves Existing Systems, AHR Product of the Year

Product Highlight/News: Smart Plug by Taco

Product Name: SmartPlug
Company: Taco Comfort Solutions

The SmartPlug by Taco Comfort Solutions has won Product of the Year recognition at the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) recently held in Las Vegas January 30th-February 1st (as reported by ProudGreenHome).

This news caught our attention as it improves existing systems. Recirculating lines can use a lot of energy heating water for use at all times. It seems the smart plug will be able to “learn” habits and greatly reduce the amount of time heating energy will be used.

The SmartPlug Instant Hot Water Control learns user habits and makes hot water systems more efficient. This hot water recirculating system can connect to any corded circulator and transform it to be up to 94 percent more energy efficient by learning user patterns and only delivering hot water when needed.

What makes this product “Green”? :

With a sensor that mounts to the hot water supply pipe, the SmartPlug records daily hot water usage patterns in a home and is able to adjust the circulator run time automatically. Hot water will always be available when needed in a household, but this prevents the recirculation pumps from running too long. If this product catches on, it has the potential to save thousands of gallons of water per year.
