Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is launching Residential Energy+, an initiative to measure and value home energy performance and costs in valuing residential real estate. The measure has three top goals:

1. Putting a home energy metric in all consumers’s hands
2. Presenting the total costs of home ownership, including energy
3. Converting home energy performance into equity value

So how does this program relate to Home Energy Scores, HERS ratings and other existing resources? The organization suggests a plan to bring together data providers, platforms, realtors, appraisers, lenders, industry associations and the government Hopefully, RMI will add clarity and not add to what can seem at times a confusing existing set of measures and programs.
