From the Institute for Sustainable Energy at Boston University: On October 31st, the Massachusetts Joint Revenue Committee will host a hearing on Senate Bill 2056 (S.2056) - a bill that would create a voluntary check-off option for Massachusetts residents to donate a portion of their tax return to the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF). The LDCF helps the nations that are most vulnerable to climate change find ways to adapt and protect themselves from the most dangerous effects. Massachusetts has an opportunity to take a stand and demonstrate support for the Paris Climate Agreement. The funds raised by S.2056 would go toward supporting the most vulnerable communities around the world – those who are least responsible for the climate crisis. Climate change is a humanitarian crisis. Rising global temperatures are fueling more frequent and more severe extreme weather events – including droughts, heat waves, flooding, and hurricanes like Harvey, Irma, and Maria. From Bangladesh to Barbuda to Puerto Rico, we see time and time again that it is the poorest who bear the brunt of the devastation. Please consider signing this petition in support of Bill 2056. https://secure3.oxfamamerica.org/page/speakout/massachusetts-climate-action Image from ClimateChangeNews.com
