Participate in DOE's 50001 Ready Program - Central Texas - 1

SPEER has received a grant and is implementing a pilot program in the Central Texas region. It’s an opportunity to participate in DOE’S 50001 Ready free of charge through this grant. This is open to schools, city/state facilities, and private companies.

What is 50001 Ready?

A self-guided approach for facilities to establish an energy management system and self-attest to the structure of ISO 50001, a voluntary global standard for energy management systems in industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. The intent behind this program is to establish an energy management system. Typically buildings with annual utility costs of $88,000 and higher have seen 5-15% savings when participating in this program in other regions.

There will be three 6 hour required workshops in Austin every 2-3 months. In these workshops our trainers will help the participants walk through DOE’s navigator with their building, so at the end of the third training workshop an energy management system will be ready to be put in place and implemented. For more details and documents visit our webpage. The only requirement is that participants have access to 24-36 months of monthly energy usage data prior to the workshops. We will be holding our first workshop in early September, and we have space for 3 more buildings/participants.
