LNG Contracts may Help Prevent future New England Fuel Price Spikes - What's the Environmental Impact?

It sounds positive that Distrigas has signed contracts with National Grid and and others to work to prevent future winter natural gas price spikes in the New England Region. We all want to work together to make sure that all residents have access to energy, and therefore heat. I do want to ask about how LNG works as part of our energy mix and what kind of result this is for the environment. I am curious - so this is not an attempt to bash LNG as a fuel. We can't blame suppliers if we're consuming and not working hard enough to conserve. I'd just like to start a conversation about the different types of energy and how LNG fits and what we might want to know. What are our long term clean or cleaner energy plans in Massachusetts, New England?
