Service Providers and Service Provider Representatives are a very important part of the Rate It Green community. We hope that you will become partners in our efforts to increase the amount of quality information available about green products and services. And we hope that we at Rate It Green can provide you with new information and valuable feedback that will help your business as well as the entire green community continue expanding for years to come. While we may charge for additional optional services, inclusion in the Rate It Green database is free of charge so that we can provide the most accurate and comprehensive information to our Individual Community Members. Joining Rate It Green as an Individual Community Member is also free of charge.
Answers to a few Frequently Asked Questions:
Why Register your Company with Rate It Green?
Rate It Green is able to host forums and product discussions for services and companies that have not registered, but registering will allow us to provide our members with more complete information about your service(s) and company in their search for environmental products, services, and knowledge. All community members will learn more, and we can better help connect them to you! And registering is easy. The system will also only ask you to enter full company information once. Once your company has been entered into the system, authorized company representatives will be able to log in and use our "Add a Service feature" any time to enter additional services.
How is it that my Company might Already be Listed with Rate It Green?
We add many products and services into our system so that members may have basic information about products and services in the green marketplace until we can provide additional information. These are very limited "temporary" listings in place so that our site can be productive for our members while we allow companies time to register.
Registering allows you to add your company if we do not already have your organization listed. And if your company is already listed, registering allows you to provide more current and accurate information to our members so that we can be a more comprehensive resource for them as they search for information about green products and services. In other words, you get to provide the information that we will show our members and guests. Our temporary listings are very basic precisely because we would like to allow you to present your company and its products and/or services in the way that works best for the organization. For this reason, many companies choose to have their Marketing and Communications personnel fill out this information.
There are three ways a product or service can be listed on the Rate It Green site:
- Rate It Green Team Members learn about the product or service during our research
- Rate It Green Members can suggest green products and services for addition to the site, which Rate It Green will then research and add if appropriate
- Companies can add their own products and services

Can I also Register as an Individual Community Member? Do I have to?
If you are a manufacturer or service provider, you can absolutely become an Individual Community Member. In fact, we encourage you to do so, and we welcome your input and participation as a valued member of our community. To become an Individual Community Member, you would simply create a personal log-in that is different from the company log-in you will create for your company and then proceed through the regular member registration process.
But you do not have to register as an Individual Community Member in order to register a company and submit a product or service. It is fine to complete the company registration and limit your personal participation in the site. Please do keep in mind, however, that you and other authorized representatives are representing your company on the site if you post any information publicly while logged in as a registered company.
How do the two membership types differ?
Company Registration: Once a company registration has been completed, authorized representatives may submit products and services and manage the company's account online. But companies may not participate as fully as individual members in certain public areas of the site. Companies must also always be identified by their accurate name when transaction or participating on the site. This membership type is only open to companies that produce green products and/or offer green services.
Individual Registration: Once an individual completes the member registration, he or she is a full community member and can take full advantage of the benefits offered within the Rate It Green community. Individual Community Members can post on any public forum or board, and they can participate in the ratings area of the site as well. To protect their privacy, all Individual Community Members create a unique public name and user identity. These membership types are open to all individuals. However, individual memberships are not open to companies or other entities.
Why is the system rejecting my email address/user identity? Especially since I am already a Member?
Please note that the email address you use to create this account is part of its unique identity. Therefore, you will need to use a different email address should you decide to also create an individual account. Likewise, if you have already created an individual account, the system will require a different email address for the company account. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We greatly appreciate that many people have decided to become individual members of the community in addition to registering their companies so that they might share what they know about green building on our public forums and ratings (apart from representing a company or organization).
