How products are added to the database:

There are three ways a product or service can be listed on the Rate It Green site:

1. Rate It Green Team Members learn about the product or service and post a limited "temporary" listing.
2. Rate It Green Members can suggest green products or services for addition to the site, which Rate It Green will then research and add if appropriate through a limited "temporary" listing.
3. Companies can add their own products and services. Registered companies are those for which you will see more full records.

In addition, companies can upgrade limited listings to more full records to better inform Rate It Green members at any time by registering (free of charge). Feel free to contact companies with limited "temporary" listings via the web listing provided and let someone know you you would like to learn more about this product/service on Rate It Green!

Temporary vs. full records:

You may note that some records contain more information than others. The more basic "Temporary listings" are for those companies which have not yet registered on the site. As companies register, we will upload more detailed information they provide. Rate It Green decided that it really made sense for companies to be able to speak for themselves. It’s a free marketing opportunity we are happy to offer, but more importantly we want companies to provide the information about which people should be evaluating their performance. In the mean time, these records help us provide a more full database of available green products and services. They also provide a space so that you may rate and read about them.

How ratings are calculated:

The "Composite/Overall Rating represents the average of all Overall reviewer ratings scores submitted for a product or service. Composite Detailed Ratings are averages of all scores submitted for a particular characteristic or attribute of a product or service. Members are only required to complete an Overall rating for each product or service for the system to process the entry. All other information is optional. The highest possible score at Rate It Green is a "10," meaning the member had a high positive opinion while a "1" is the lowest, meaning the user had the lowest negative opinion.

As you rate, please make sure to be respectful of the organizations and companies, and other Rate It Green members (!) that make up our community. We welcome praise and advice and even criticism, but all ratings should be constructive in nature.



Note: The opinions, ratings, and comments posted by members on the Rate It Green web site are the comments and opinions of the individual member who posts them only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of Rate It Green. Rate It Green Team Members will monitor posted content on a regular basis for unsuitable content, but we also ask for the participation of community members in helping to keep the site a comfortable and open public forum of ideas. If you believe that unsuitable content has been posted, please contact Allison Friedman: afriedman@rateitgreen.com Our team will then take the appropriate action, which may include notifying the participant to cease and removing such postings.
