This half-day workshop on LEED v4 will focus on the importance of three key areas: collaboration, performance, and well-being. Participants will learn about new and cutting edge green building topics including healthy materials, building enclosure commissioning, and life cycle assessment. As one of only 100 global projects what participated in the LEED v4 Beta Program, Thornton Tomasetti is striving for LEED v4 for Commercial Interiors platinum certification for their San Francisco office. Lynn will describe the benefits and lessons learned in participating in the newest version of the LEED Rating System. Lynn will also share a brief history of green building and an overview of new sustainability certification rating systems, such as WELL.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand how LEED v4 provides a rigorous a framework for achieving high levels of performance
• Identify the benefits of collaboration through the integrative design process
• Incorporate strategies for increased performance and occupant well-being
• Engage in a dialogue on the lessons learned in using LEED v4

Instructor:
Lynn N. Simon has over 25 years of experience in the green building industry. She joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2012, after 19 years leading Simon & Associates, a green building consulting firm she founded in 1994. As a Senior Vice President, Lynn is responsible for leading the firm’s west coast building sustainability practice, managing complex green design and consulting projects, and for providing strategic guidance nationally. She has served on the Board of Directors of several building industry organizations including the AIA San Francisco Chapter and the U.S. Green Building Council. Lynn holds a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. In 2011, Lynn was honored with USGBC’s President’s Award.
