This presentation will provide an intro-level look at the world of Passive House and why its so important for the future of energy efficient construction and climate change mitigation, for newcomers and experienced professionals alike.

Global climate change is the biggest challenge humanity faces today, and a big part of that problem is the carbon output from our buildings. Just in New York City, building energy use contributes to about 71% of city-wide emissions. Passive House design is the best way forward in terms of making both old and new buildings more efficient, and we’ll highlight the many ways in which a building’s outer shell can be optimized to conserve energy- with regards to airtightness, heat/energy recovery & ventilation, eliminating thermal bridging, insulation, and efficient daylighting. There are a wealth of of factors to consider, including the health benefits of passive house, the premier high performance manufacturers that 475 partners with, and the many components and certifications that make up a successfully “passive” building, and we’ll brief you on all of these topics and more in the webinar.
